This hand-built flat-bottom V-drive boat was constructed in the late 1960s by a Ford engineer in San Jose, Calif.
The length is 16' and the construction is fiberglass over hardwood frames and stringers, and marine ply.
The hull design is based on plans from wellknown marine architect Glen L.
Witt.
(The model was known as the "Missile.
") Power is a January 1963 production Ford 289 V8 fitted with a Ford 4-barrel iron manifold driving through a water-cooled Hall-Craft V-Drive with in-out gears (forward and neutral).
The engine is upgraded with a new electronic ignition distributor and a new Edelbrock 1405 carburetor (manual choke) and Edelbrock electric fuel pump, and has new head gaskets.
Other new components include the Neovane water pump impeller, starter motor, alternator and voltage regulator.
To upgrade to recommended USCG standards, a bilge pump and a blower were added, and are wired to separate toggles under the dash.
Every effort was made to retain the boat's originality, so upgrades were done on a "bolt on" basis and can be removed if desired.
Other details included fixed aluminum trim (cavitation) plates, full vintage Stewart-Warner analog gauges including a cable-driven tachometer, Hall-Craft throttle pedal, bronze propeller, Nicson bronze rudder, twin turning skegs, and Nicson aluminum water-cooled headers exiting through the transom.
Trailer was custom made for the boat and has new whitewall tires (including the spare) on 6-lug chrome-reverse rims, serviced bearings and re-carpeted bunks and lefthand side steps.
(The original 1960s shag carpet was left for posterity on righthand steps.
) Boat and trailer have clear California titles.
The boat is titled as a 1970 and is registered through 2025 (California lakes mussel fees included).
The trailer is titled as a 1969 and has a black plate with permanent PTI registration.
Recently finished a 1,200 mile round trip to four Sierra lakes.
It starts instantly, is fast and fun to drive, and draws tons of attention.
Just needs whatever cosmetic attention you want to do.
