Oakley is somewhere around 8 years old -- mature but not elderly, calm but still with a spark in there! He'd be perfect for a family looking for a hang-around dog, one that doesn't need a lot of exercise or attention but is just happy to be part of things.
Oakley is housebroken, trained, and friendly to strangers.
He's living well with a large pack of dogs, but he has poor social skills meeting new dogs, so he needs some oversight during that process.
(Once he gets past that first moment of being a jerk, he's fine!) He likes to chase cats outside, so he'd be better off in a home without one.
Oakley came in to the Santa Barbara County Animal Services shelter GROSSLY overweight and neglected.
He's lost 30 lbs (yes, believe it or not!) and is okay where he is, but would benefit from losing another 5-10 lbs.
He's also got a bit of sensitive stomach (probably due to years of neglect and bad food) so he may need a special diet.
He had surgery for a torn cruciate ligament in September and has healed nicely.
Oakley is NOT a hiker or serious exercise buddy.
He enjoys a leisurely stroll around the neighborhood, so he'd be perfect for a more sedentary family.
